Go8-C9 博士生论坛 2012：水资源及管理和全球可持续未来
- Graduate Perspectives from Australia and China
Each year the Go8 and China 9 universities arrange a joint forum that brings together doctoral students from member universities to help strengthen links between the universities, facilitate collaboration between Australia and China and create professional linkages between the future research leaders of the two countries.
This year’s forum is the third in the series and will bring together 34 doctoral students from China and Australia to exchange ideas across disciplines and across national boundaries on key global issues relating to water management.
As last year’s forum was held in China, hosted by Tsinghua University, this year the forum will be held in Australia and The University of Queensland will host the meeting. The forum will take place from 8 to 12 October 2012 and the universities involved are already selecting the students who will attend.
Each of the seventeen participating universities will select two top students – potential leaders of the next generation of researchers – to present their perspectives on this topic within an interdisciplinary context. One student from each university will be working in science/engineering areas, the other working in areas of the social science/ humanities arts
A research leadership workshop will follow the forum and draw on its findings.
An added attraction this year is that all the participants will have the opportunity to attend the Australian and Trans-Tasman finals of the Three Minute Thesis (3MTTM) competition in which research higher degree students have three minutes in which to present their thesis topic in language appropriate to an intelligent but non-specialist audience.
