The Group of Eight (Go8) is highly supportive of the Ai Group’s excellent Graduate Employment Service launched today.
Vicki Thomson, Chief Executive of the Go8, says the development of a service for students and businesses – particularly SMEs – that is personalised and designed to facilitate closer alignment of skills and attributes of students with the needs of business is an excellent innovation in the graduate employment market.
“Go8 universities already deliver very good employment outcomes for our graduates,” she said, “but we know we can always improve. Services such as that announced today are a well-designed tool that can further assist.”
Ms Thomson said that it was important to recognise that the role of the university did not stop when a student graduates. “We also have a responsibility to help facilitate and deliver connections between students and graduates and potential employers across all industry sectors. This is especially relevant to SMEs which are the engine room of the Australian economy.
“Universities do not do this in isolation,” she said. “Today’s announcement is a welcome signal from our industry partners of the importance of graduate employment. We now look forward to working closely with the Ai Group and other partners to further enhance the employment outcomes of our graduates.”
