Group of Eight Chief Executive Vicki Thomson said the appointment of Emeritus Professor Glyn Davis AC as Interim Vice-Chancellor of the University of Melbourne will ensure ongoing exceptional leadership and stability, as the university community comes to terms with the tragic passing of Professor Emma Johnston AO.
“Professor Davis, who served as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Melbourne from 2005-2018, is ideally placed to support the university community during this extremely sad and difficult period.”
“He is one of the nation’s most highly qualified and experienced former Vice-Chancellors, with an unparalleled capacity to lead the university while an extensive search for a permanent Vice-Chancellor is underway.”
“There is no doubt Professor Davis will continue the outstanding work and vision for the university started by Professor Johnston, and his contribution to higher education while serving in this interim role will be valued across the sector.”
