Australia’s leading research universities have taken out newspaper ads warning vital research institutions face closure because the Government has linked their funding to the “Tertiary Reform Bill” currently stuck in the Senate. With no compromise yet emerging on the controversial issue of ‘deregulation’ of university fees, funding for the dozens of research institutes including the national super computer at the ANU, ends in June.
